Lippinkin

It is located in Leipzig on Bayerischer Platz. It is a technical monument in Transportation History of European Rank. It was the Headstation in Saxon and is the oldest mainstation in the world. The tipical classical architecture with its four arches was first started on Sept. 19, 1842 and completed two years later. The architect was Christian August Eduard Pötzch. In December 1943 during the II. World War it was partually destroyed and all that remained was its four arches. In the early 1990 after reunification it was restored and completed on Oct. 20, 1996. It is still being used by the Deutsche Bahn for transportation to the suburbs and touring Magdeburg, Dresden and Berlin. It has been proposed to be considered to be used by the S-Bahn.
